Welcome to Franklin!
Here in the heart of Acadiana, we are a locale rich in history, heritage and culture. Our people represent the spectrum of the Chitimacha Native American inhabitants of Louisiana, the French-Acadians and the many, many other groups who have united here to make this one of the most unique areas in the world.
From stately, graceful antebellum homes which conjure images of the Old South to deep, primordial swamps teeming with wildlife, the Franklin area has much to offer visitors and residents alike.
We're also serious about business and industry, from the small, hometown shops of downtown Franklin to the industrial facilities at the Port of West St. Mary to the sugar cane industry. Franklin is the home of Louisiana Governor M.J. "Mike" Foster and his residence, Oaklawn Manor.
See our Links page for more information about the area.
